Current Opportunities:
Student/Young Adults Pastor/Director
Hours: Full-Time
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Supervises: None
About the Position
The person hired for this position will be responsible for building and overseeing relational Student and Young Adults ministries at TLC. Our Student Ministry serves students in 6th-12th grade, while our Young Adults ministry is focused on helping young adults transition from student ministry into a growing, active faith of their own as they enter adulthood.
This person needs to be someone who has natural leadership capabilities with a “go-getter” mentality, but also has the ability to be coachable. At the moment, our Student Ministry averages 40-60 students every Wednesday night with a committed volunteer Dream Team of about 10-15 adults every Wednesday. As the Student/Young Adults Pastor/Director, your primary responsibilities within Student Ministry will be to teach, disciple, and fellowship with students as well as recruit, train, and lead adult volunteers and student leaders.
You’ll be responsible for overseeing weekly student worship experiences that include many technical components. In addition to weekly Wednesday night gatherings, the Student Ministry participates in camps, retreats, missions projects, and other various off-site events that you’ll be responsible for organizing and overseeing with your Dream Team.
Ministering to students is just an element of what we’re looking for in a Student/Young Adults Pastor/Director at TLC. The Student Ministry Dream Team is one of the strongest Dream Teams in our church, and working with them to continue growing in their relationship with Jesus as well as their calling in the church is incredibly important.
Young Adults Ministry
The Young Adults portion of this position is unique because this ministry is still being built. There is significant freedom for the Student/Young Adults Pastor/Director to help develop the culture, identity, leadership structure, and long-term strategy of Young Adults at TLC.
One of the primary goals of this ministry is to help bridge the gap between Student Ministry and adult life in the church. We want students graduating from high school to have a clear next step where they can continue growing spiritually, developing meaningful Christian community, serving within the local church, and learning how to follow Jesus faithfully through the unique transitions of young adulthood.
Our current expectation is to have one intentional Young Adults gathering each month with an emphasis on relationship, discipleship, worship, teaching, and community. Rather than building a ministry that depends entirely on one large monthly event, we want to cultivate a culture where smaller groups of young adults naturally gather throughout the month for community, discipleship, meals, Bible study, and life together.
Because this ministry is in its early stages, the person stepping into this role will have the opportunity to help shape what Young Adults at TLC becomes. We are looking for someone who can identify and develop leaders, build relationships with young adults, listen to the needs of this generation, and create environments where young adults feel connected to both one another and the larger church.
Ambition, intentionality, and integrity are three of the biggest traits we’re looking for in any staff member at TLC. We believe God is always looking at our hearts in everything we do, and success isn’t always defined by the tangible results of our effort. We believe that God is responsible for the fruit of our ministries, but it’s our desire to give Him our absolute best effort in everything we do.
When you ask us what we do on staff at TLC, we believe we’ve been called to more than just a job description. We are passionate about using our talents for God’s purposes, and that’s why we’ve dedicated our careers to a ministry, not just a job title. Our staff team is more than just a team, it’s a family. Being on staff at TLC means you’ll always own your ministry area, but you’ll never have to do it alone.

- Develop a strategy for connecting new young adults into the ministry and helping them develop meaningful relationships.
- Help young adults discover opportunities to serve and become increasingly connected to the larger church rather than allowing Young Adults to function as a church within the church.
